I shot this family at one of my favorite locations...love the brick, love the ivy, and I love the iron fence. And I love how little [M] is dressed...as my friend put it well, she said she looks like she should be on Gossip Girl with her boots, mini skirt and sweater. I love it. She is quite the stylish little lady.

Such a beautiful photogenic family. I don't think you can get a bad shot of this trio. I have never done the train track thing, so it was good to give that a try. Nor have I been to this location with the big old truck, perhaps you recognize it? There were SO many other photographers at this hot spot when we were there. HA! and I just heard about it!

Can I just say that the beginning of November seemed exceptionallly warm this year? It was lovely. That is when these were taken. I have now photographed the [B] family for 3 years in a row. This little cutie has come a long way! He just turned 1 in September. He is such a sweetie, but the ironic thing is that when I see him and I am NOT taking his picture he laughs and laughs AT ME. But when taking his picture, he pretty much refuses. Either way, he is adorable.

This year we have decided to raise money to put towards a tree for the Festival of Trees...which benefits Primary Children's Medical Center. [Married] Cassey and Jake

These two got married at the beginning of July in the Ogden Temple. It was a day of firsts for me! My first time shooting at the Ogden Temple, my first time seeing the Ogden Temple, and my first time shooting a couple that I had never met until the actual wedding day. Such a cute couple with fun vintage style. The vintage Fairlane was their getaway car from the temple and I thought so fun to top off their vintage style. Thank you Cassey and Jake for letting me be a part of your day!

Candace [bridals]

We made excellent timing with these bridals...shooting right when the cherry blossoms were in bloom! It seems like there is a small window of opportunity to get those blossoms, so you really have to hope for the best between winter ending, spring beginning and all the wind and things in between. I was so pleased to finally be able to shoot in the blossoms. Candace had a beautiful dress (as you can see), and it got more compliments and comments than any other bride I have shot before. It was certainly unique.

I shot this little lady in February in my home. I know a lot of clients don't feel that their home offers enough windows/natural light to shoot in, and so my home is always an option. I don't have an official "studio" in which I shoot, but I try to keep things simple, like using my wood floors in my dining room or just a blank wall at the bottom of my stairs:) I totally live by the term LESS IS MORE.

Baby on my mind: a baby promotion

This means every project I do or want to do most likely has something to do with "baby". I am really looking forward to having another baby...all my own...to photograph to my hearts desire. This shoot was fun...such a fun age...and a really fun location. Don't we all wish we could have a brick wall in our kitchen? A girl can dream...

flash isn't THAT terrible

At the end of December I was faced with a challenge...a large family with several of its members in from out of town in the freezing cold winter, on a Sunday. We didn't really have any public locations we could go to because most of them would be closed on a Sunday. Luckily we found someone's home large enought to get everyone in. Also luckily...we had white ceilings to bounce light off of. Now I usually say I HATE USING MY FLASH...and, well, I do. I dread it. It will either flatten the tones....leaving little/no contrast and a dull image...or it will create horribly harsh shadows making the image look really unnatural...or in the case of color images, it will create a warmer cast than I would prefer. That being said, these images had all the desirable conditions for using a flash. To anyone who wants to know, though, I reccommend avoid direct flash most costs! I realize there are moments when you just need to get the shot and it is what it is, but if at all possible, bounce that flash...aka, do not use your on camera flash, invest in something nice that can be attached and its head can swivel, rotate and flip up. That was longer than I anticipated. wow.

I was hired on as a second photographer for a friends wedding. This was an interesting experience. I was able to semi-relax due to the fact that I was there to document the evening in a more candid way. It was interesting because I needed to do my job...shoot the events taking place, but try not to impose on the main photographer of the evening...which I hope I did not. Another thing about this evening was the location...the ceilings were purple? So, I hate using direct flash(eeew) but how do you bounce light off of a purple source? Well I made the most of it...these are just a few of my favorites from the evening. Thank you Cade and Anne for allowing me to be a part of your evening. Congratulations!

I had the opportunity to photograph these two back in October. When I spoke with the bride to be, I must say I had never spoken to a more excited bride before! They had both raised large families...I think 6 or 7 kids each and numerous grandchildren. She was so thrilled that they had found each other. It was a beautiful fall evening to photograph these two. Congratulations! and thank you for being so warm and welcoming!

It is a tough time of year...its freezing. Snowy. Yucky. Gray and everything seems dull. LUCKILY...there are a few great places that allow you to shoot indoors, no charge and have ample amounts of natural light. Everyone is comfortable, warm and HAPPY! I sure miss the warm sun, though!

You may, or may not know that on occasion, I shoot for commercial purposes. One client I have is the black goose design. When I get to shoot for them I love it! My head buzzes with tons of cute ideas and a little envy of all the stuff I want to do to my house! This store is so great for big pieces, but also a lot of unique accessories. We take a trip to California every other year, and last time we went, I was expecting Owen...so this was his first trip of many more to come. This was a fun shoot, but I now really understand the meaning of chasing daylight! the sun sets fast on the coast!

Mini Christmas Studio Sessions

FYI...I will be doing the studio Christmas sessions again this year. This is intended for young children . They will be in my home on November 14 from 10am-4pm. Each session is $25.00 and will include 2 digital negatives. I've also collaborated with some friends to turn it into a Christmas Boutique! We will have Christmas crafts and goodies for sale. Again this is a fundraiser for the Ronald McDonald House. As you can imagine, they get a lot of traffic, so we are "Making Over" one of their rooms. We did this last year and had so much fun we are doing it again. ALL PROCEEDS FROM THAT DAY GO TO RMH! Maybe its the really cute sisters...maybe its all the fun combinations of pink and brown...maybe its all the fun layers...or maybe its because these 3 girls were practically the first I photographed...before I was even really professional. In fact, I was a student at the University of Utah in the Photography program...which means I wasn't even shooting digital yet! I shot their session in black and white film. One day I will have to post some images from that shoot!
